Ramesh Chaurasia-Climate Prevention

These words make the gravity of the situation very much prominent at a global level. One of the most troublesome issues that wander over the minds of environmentalists, global leaders, and activists is the increasing temperature and climate change that impacts all the other functions and mechanisms of our planet.

Ask it out

There’s a simple question I want millennials and youngsters to ask from their grandparents or any other people older in age than mid 40’s. Ask them if summers were this hot when they were your age a long time back? Were heavy downpours that too all of a sudden a common thing to experience? In winters, were there any such news headlines and updates about melting ice caps in Antarctica heard? Their answer to this will be no. Quite evidently, all of this began to take a different turn only some years back when things became unmanageable and complicated.

A reality check

In the modern time, when almost everyone is busy making our lives stabilized and smooth, we tend to neglect the heavy cost that the environment is paying for us to enjoy our time. Global warming is a term even toddlers know nowadays because of how commonly it has started to become a part of our everyday conversations. Although, awareness about the same is spreading as fast as forest fire and this is making us feel like doing something to save the planet from harm. As per the survey reports, 2019 was marked to be the second warmest year on record and the end of the warmest decade ever recorded. This rightly suggests what kind of challenges can be faced ahead in the coming times?

We must remember that climate change is not at a pause. It’s happening for real and rapidly. If not given attention at this point, the situation can get out of hand in no time. Depletion of the ozone layer, melting ice caps, soaring temperature, etc. are some common terms that flood the news headlines almost every day.

The predicted future

As per the predictions of policymakers and global leaders, if the climate trends continue to remain the same, the future wouldn’t be able to offer livable conditions at all. Therefore, the only way out of this can be to transform our ways of living now. For as far as the planet is known to exist, the environment is continuously believed to give us fresh air, a pleasant atmosphere, and a lot many things that can hardly be counted in numbers. It’s our time to think about how we can be of great help to our planet. It's high time we walk on a path meant to preserve the environment which is, in turn, crucial to secure our futures.

Small steps

As responsible citizens of the world, we should take some small yet significant steps as a mark of making contributions on an individual level. Some steps that can be taken are given below-:

Carpooling, which would result in reduced fuel consumption and pollution emission.

Using cloth bags instead of plastic bags that harm the environment

Walking short distances rather than using cars or other such motor vehicles

To conclude

We already know where we are going wrong and the solutions are also known widely, all we now need to do is to bring our plans into action and change the world for betterment. The planet belongs to all of us equally, hence, we must bear equal responsibilities towards its security and prevention. In my opinion, it's only through collective responsibility and clubbed action that we can bring a significant change.
