Impact of Green Fuel on the Environment

The rise in the consumption of fossil fuels and more fuel dependency is a cause of economic stress for India. The inevitable environmental damage that is caused by such fuel requires the urgent need for other sustainable alternatives. Biofuel or Green fuels are a beneficial option that will not only solve the environmental issues but also come with multiple possibilities of a positive transformation. The use of green fuel can also help India reach the desired self-sufficiency in energy.
Defining green fuel
Green fuel, also described as Biofuel, is a type of fuel processed from plants and animal wastes and other organic matters such as synthetic natural gas (SNG), ammonia, etc. It is believed by some that these fuels are more environment-friendly than the widely used fossil fuels that are powering most of the world.
Differentiating green fuel and conventional fuels
As the raw materials used to make green fuel are sustainable and naturally restored, they are considered inexhaustible and eco-friendly. Unlike other conventional fuels like naturally occurring oil requires an extremely long geological process to form; on the other hand, biofuels are produced in a matter of days. Several varieties of raw materials are used to create biofuels starting from crop residue, vegetable oils, and algae. Not all fuels can be scaled up to a commercial standard, biofuels offer exciting opportunities because of their huge variety.
Impact of green fuel on the environment
● Different types of biofuels and raw materials are considered in terms of their environmental and economic feasibility. Biofuels are gaining the center stage as human activities keep increasing and the accompanying increase in the discharge of fatal emissions is also a matter of concern.
● Biodiesel and bioethanol are the most common, feasible alternatives. Biodiesel is obtained from waste cooking oil, non-edible vegetable oil, animal fat, and tallow), and bioethanol formed from Lignocellulosic biomass, starchy and sugary vegetable resources, forestry waste, and agricultural residues) are amalgamated straight from vegetable raw materials. It brings their characters close to that of fossil diesel and gasoline.
● Green fuels have the potential to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions, i.e., carbon-di-oxide (CO2), nitrous oxide (N2O), carbon mono-oxide (CO), nitric oxide (NO), and sulfur dioxide (SO2) by as much as 30% from their combustion in internal combustion engines. The different possible methods used for their production define fuel sensitivity to the environment and the energy balance.
Advantages of Green fuels on the environment
The reason green fuel has gained importance as it plays a crucial role in bringing balance to the environment. Some of the reasons include
● Biofuels are chemically identical to petroleum analogs and hence, have fewer compatibility issues with existing engines and infrastructure.
● Biofuels can be produced domestically from different raw materials.
● The carbon dioxide captured by the growing raw materials reduces all the greenhouse gas emissions by balancing the carbon dioxide released from burning the renewable biofuels compared to other conventional fuels.
● Biofuels is a replacement for conventional diesel gasoline and jet fuels allowing for several products from different production technologies and feedstocks.
Conclusion
In conclusion, by adopting renewable forms of energy India will be stepping closer to its goal as it can benefit the country's economy. Impact on the GDP (Gross domestic product) by infusing investment. Attracting global and domestic investors, and utilising renewable energy will have a positive effect on the GDP of the country. With the government's pursuit of targets for the green energy sector, India has become very attractive from both domestic and foreign investors' perspectives and would continue to generate more investment in the future.
Adoption of Renewable energy can lead to job creation. The further expansion of the Renewable energy sectors would lead to the emergence of new employment opportunities in the country. Green job creation can be revolutionary for India's economy, especially for the rural community.
Biofuel also promotes human welfare. The benefits of renewable energy can be far beyond economic development. The procedure of generating renewable sources of energy usually takes place in rural areas. In this way, while a fair share of power generated is being supplied to this area, the renewable sector also acts as a catalyst in the upliftment of these areas.
Aside from these factors biofuels will also help in achieving environmental benefits such as diminishing climate change by meeting the increasing energy demand.
