Promoting Environmental Education
A beautiful quote by Lady Bird Johnson worded like…….
‘The environment is where we all meet; where all have a mutual interest; it is the one thing all of us share’
Sticking to these words, we realize how our environment is a precious gift to us and induces a sense of responsibility to preserve it in all forms from every sort of hamper that is either naturally threatening or human-made in a way that can scar nature brutally. While the realization of what has been going on is the first and the foremost step towards bringing a change, execution, as well as implementation, is the second crucial step to take.
According to me, nothing great can be achieved without a stable plan to act on. The road to success comes with milestones and signboards that are actually firm plans that we derive.
Environmental preservation must be the main goal to hit, not for a specific group of people but for everyone, regardless of where in the world we put up.
If the ice caps are melting rapidly, the threat increases for all of us together; if the climate changes are unpredictable, it’s because of the global warming effects due to carbon emissions for which all of us are equally responsible.
What are environmental studies?
Young kids and toddlers at school are taught the importance, significance, challenges, solutions, and ways to work in favor of the environment and nature.
The subject of environmental studies or EVS is introduced to be taught in schools at a pretty young age because those are the foundation years that would yield strongly to develop the mindset and perspective of children in such a way that they grow up to be wise adults that add up to the betterment of the society.
Why promote it further?
Environmental studies help in knowing how the environment functions and how we are deeply related to it. Getting to know about the importance of a safe environment for us is how people will plan on preserving its purity further.
Kids often try to grasp a lot as well as learn tons of information but unfortunately memorize and practically enforce fewer things that are mugged up by them. This is the reason why they fail to actively practice everything they are taught at a young age. A lot of knowledge gets drained out of their fickle minds, which is natural to happen.
Therefore, I believe, there is nothing wrong but extremely benefitting to pass on the basics and important things from time to time, so that the duties remain fresh in the minds of people. There is no way we can act efficiently until we know what is to be done exactly. There are thousands of people out there who hardly notice how their actions are contributing to the deteriorating environmental condition. In such cases, spreading awareness lies is the only option to combat the ill effects.
The significance of promoting environmental education
Getting the right idea
Many times we know things are going wrong and they aren’t supposed to be how they are at some particular point in time. In such cases, the only solution is to figure out what is exactly to be done so that the situation changes for the better and doesn’t get out of control.
The environment is definitely not a thing to be skeptical about, it’s clear that we only have this one planet to take care of. We can’t rely on replacements. Therefore, knowing what is to be done right is extremely important. Getting the right idea by getting educated correctly is the key to all the problems we are facing.
As people become educated to a great extent, awareness levels increase considerably. With hyped-up awareness levels, we come to know and detect the unwanted threats to the environment way before they turn out to be majorly negative. Therefore, solutions can be found readily and immediately, thus combating heavy damage if people are properly aware of what is to be done exactly.
With everyone coming up to work in favor of a single subject and cause, sentiments of togetherness and unity increase considerably. With increased togetherness and collectivity, goals somehow become easy to be achieved.
At the end
It’ll take collective efforts to bring about a change. It’s not just some discussions or merely plans that can help things work out well, it’s the actual implementation that matters at the end of the day. Let’s come together and build an environment that we want to live happily.
